1) Visit this site to register for the San Antonio Walk to Cure Diabetes or maybe go here to find a Walk to heal Diabetes in your area. Sign up, sponsor people for your team and still have fun while doing anything good for others!

It is the people that give each day without receiving any identification or praise for their function and donation that are genuine philanthropists. Even if they do not have got much money to give, neither time to spare they give the actual can. There are many people who provide who want to receive recognition or even praise for what they did. Pure philanthropy does not have a reward.

Calming Yogi Tea is another herbal tea for stress relief. This green tea is a calming tea that will ease stress and tension and promotes relaxed alertness without sleepiness. This healing tea includes organic chamomile that facilitates, soothes and rejuvenates the particular nerves. Chamomile has an organic herbal apple flavor and it has been known for centuries it soothes and calms your brain and spirit. It is no surprise that these herbal teas regarding stress relief are reaching the main spots on herbal tea stress relief charts.

The whole concept of philanthropy is to be entirely charitable about your deeds. You must not be expecting to receive everything in return. You may receive a compliment for your actions and some level of notoriety but that should not have to get the motivation for your providing. The most charitable acts are that are given without any believed for oneself.

These are not caused that a true philanthropist must have. A true philanthropist would contribute without any recognition being mounted on their name. Unfortunately, the ones that do seek the spotlight often give philanthropist unfortunate names.

Caves Research Foundation http://bahamacaves.com/caves-research-foundation/ Wed, 07 Aug 2013 12:31:12 +0000 http://bahamacaves.com/?p=21 This is the official web site for the Bahamas Caves Research Foundation, an organization dedicated to gathering information on blue holes and underwater cave systems of the Bahamas. The information provided here is a compilation of data provided by explorers, scientists, and recreational cave divers from all over the world. These individuals have dedicated themselves to unraveling the mysteries of the Bahamas underwater, underground. For in-depth information on underwater cave biology, check out Dr. Tom Iliffe’s, cavebiology.com website.

Within this site you will be exposed to some of the most cutting edge diving technologies and techniques currently in use by underwater cave explorers and researchers.

Bahamas Caves Research Foundation Mission Statement

The Bahamas Caves Research Foundation is dedicated to the exploration, research, and conservation of Bahamian blue holes and underwater cave systems through science, public awareness, education and sustainable tourism.

Vision Statement

The Bahamas Caves Research Foundation will become the definitive source of information for educational, governmental and tourism agencies interested in blue holes and underwater cave systems in the Bahamas.

BCRF Expeditions

Each year, we conduct several 1 to 2 week cave diving and research expeditions throughout the the islands of the Bahamas. We are always looking for certified cave divers and explorers to join these expeditions and to help offset the costs of the projects.

Expeditions can be land-based, or on live aboard vessels, depending on the project requirements. Projects vary from stricty exploration, to survey, or science trips. Participants are welcome to assist with the scientific aspects of any given project, but it is not required (i.e. you can just dive if that is what you wish). Please check out our EXPEDITIONS / EVENTS page for the 2002 schedule or CONTACT US AT bahamacave@aol.com

Events

This site should be considered “under construction”. We are currently working on a site that will include maps of the Bahamas and individual cave descriptions including, type of cave, biology within the cave, hydrology and any archaeological finds.

Our newsletter, “THE GUIDELINE”, contains information on past and future projects here in the Bahamas. You can see more frequent updates on our CURRENT PROJECTS page, explaining our week to week efforts. Please check in with us from time to time to see how the site is evolving. Enjoy and dive safely.

Mystery Cave http://bahamacaves.com/mystery-cave/ Thu, 09 May 2013 12:32:50 +0000 http://bahamacaves.com/?p=24 A large development company has apparently been given permits to dredge a new marina very close to the entrance, and even closer to the underlying passages of Mystery Cave that go directly beneath the property for the development on Stocking Island, near Georgetown, Great Exuma.  The project also calls for a “deep” sewage injection well, as well as diesel and gasoline storage all of which will be placed directly over the top of the cave.  The well is to be drilled to a depth of 170 feet (not even remotely deep compared to injection well standards in the US).

Mystery cave is a major fracture cave (has high vertical passages in the shape of a large crack) that is over 200 feet deep.  It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out were this “treated” gray water effluent will end up.  If this well is used, there is a high probability of a significant negative impact on the cave, it’s incredible marine life, and the surrounding waters where this tidally affected cave receives and expels its water.

Brian Kakuk has spoken at public hearings concerning the potential destruction of the cave, and the important marine life within.  At the same public meetings, he has argued with “eco-lawyers” that would have the public believe that this project is having no effect on the caves. The BCRF, along with local landowners, are continuing our efforts to keep this project from effecting the caves and surrounding waters.

The BCRF has dedicated 3 web pages ( MYSTERY CAVE – MYSTERY CAVE FACT SHEET – URGENT LETTER ) to the ongoing efforts to stop the potential destruction of these caves, so please check back regularly to find out the latest.

Below this milk white water is the entrance to Mystery Cave. It appears that more than 80% of the siltation that makes its way along the shoreline, is going directly into the cave on the incoming tides. The leaves on the surface indicate that the cave is siphoning (drawing water in on the incoming tide (12:30 pm August 31st, 2002) Photo by Brian Kakuk

The once clear waters of Hurricane Hole and Cleaning Hole are now milk white with the dredged silt from the marina project on Stocking Island. Most of the silt is being siphoned directly into Mystery Cave on the incoming tides. (12:30 pm, 31 August, 2002) Photo by Brian Kakuk
